Tim Powers has the great honor of being one of the authors about whom steampunk was coined. In his books he strictly adheres to established historical facts, but he contrives to let the possible occult or supernatural factors explain the motivations and actions of the completely real characters. His book The Anubis Gates won the Philip K. Dick Award, and with its completely plausible supernatural time-travel aspects is a thoroughly steampunk romp. We look eagerly forward to a visit from Tim and his beautiful wife Serena.

Paul Guinan is a Chicago-born multimedia artist whose eclectic career includes stints as a storyboard artist, cinematographer, ad-agency illustrator, kinetic sculptor, mural painter, production designer, radio DJ, model maker, silkscreener, and even wax-figure restorer for a Ripley’s Museum. His Victorian robots web site has garnered international acclaim, especially his pages about Boilerplate, the Mechanical Marvel of the Nineteenth Century.

Abney Park have “picked up their bad musical habits, scoundrelous musicians, and anachronistically hybridized instruments from dozens of locations and eras that they have visited in their travels and thrown them into one riotous dervish of a performance. Expect clockwork guitars, belly dancers, flintlock bassists, middleastern percussion, violent violin, and Tesla powered keyboards blazing in a post-apocalyptic, swashbuckling, Steampunk musical mayhem.” Their music has been featured on a number of movie soundtracks, including Insomnis Amour, Goth, and Lord of the Vampires. The band‘s music has also been featured in many compilation CDs, including Cleopatra Records The Unquiet Grave vol. III, Annihilation and Seduction, Eighteen and many more.
